Upload
Drop a CSV, Excel or JSON file. Region names are matched automatically across languages and scripts — English exonyms, folded diacritics, native spellings and official codes all resolve to the same region.
Style
Kartograf picks a classification and palette that fit your distribution, then gets out of the way. 26 palettes, five classification methods, full colour control, and text boxes you can drag anywhere on the map.
Export
PNG and JPEG up to 600 DPI, or true vector SVG and PDF for print. Your source credit travels inside the file. Everything is generated in your browser.
What is built in
Each region gets a projection chosen for it rather than Web Mercator — Albers USA, ETRS89-LAEA for Europe, Lambert conformal conic for Sweden and India. On a choropleth, area is visual weight, so a projection that inflates the north overstates it.

Adding another is one entry in scripts/sources.mjs plus a projection. Nothing else in the pipeline is country-specific.
Real data, already loaded
Every region ships with starter datasets carrying real figures from its own statistical agency — Statistiska centralbyrån (SCB); US Census Bureau, Population Estimates Program; Eurostat; Census of India 2011, Office of the Registrar General. They are fetched and validated at build time against published row counts and totals, and each one carries its agency, measure and period into the map’s source line automatically.
Accessible by default
Every control is keyboard reachable, regions are focusable and announced, and colourblind-safe palettes are one toggle away. A high-contrast mode ships with the app.
